Garden clubs with city and state workers have started the Johnny Appleseed Highway beautification along a 250 mile stretch from the Ohio River to Lake Erie. Bishop Hobson Set to Visit Athens for Confirmation
The Rt. Rev. Henry Wise Hobson, bishop of Southern Ohio, will preach and administer confirmation at 9 a m Sunday at the Church of the Good Shepherd in Athens. He announced in Cincinnati that the diocese college building fund has passed its goal with over 1 095 million raised in the past year, aiding the new Church of the Good Shepherd on University Terrace. The visit coincides with the diocese diamond jubilee convention as Oxford and Ohio State University building programs share in the push. Construction on the Athens church is hoped to begin the early summer.

Parked Car Damaged When Hit by Truck
A parked car owned by Jesse Wendell Carsey of Athens Route 2 sustained minor damage Friday when hit by a truck driven by Vernace Vader of Farming ton Mich. Police said Carsey’s vehicle was eastbound on Carpenter St when struck as the truck turned east from Court St. A separate notice states Earl N. Koch of 196 E State St was fined $5 and costs by Mayor W. P. Mickle after a trespassing complaint on Athens State Hospital grounds.
