She leaves son Alexander Athens Route 3 a niece Mrs Dow Marquis Amesville and nephew William McDaniel Little Hocking. Funeral at First Christian Church Wednesday 2 PM with burial West Union Street Cemetery. Born in Bedford County Pennsylvania she moved to Ohio in 1865. The couple lived in Canaan Township before moving to Athens ten years ago.

A 12 man jury was sworn to try Virgil Kirkland of Gary for first degree murder in the death of his 8 year old girlfriend Arlene Draves at a wine party last November. Eight jurors are fathers. The case centers on the fatal beating at the party in Valparaiso Indiana.

John Jackson, 62, of near Oak Hill, Ohio, was arrested in the murder of 22 year old Fred Heller of Scioto. Heller died in a Portsmouth hospital after a fight in a school grove where officers say Jackson struck him with a hoe in what may have been self defense.
