Peck Alman shot and fatally wounded his brother Charles G. Allman Saturday afternoon after a saloon brawl. Charles died Tuesday after operation in Columbus where bullets pierced stomach liver and bowel and thigh. Alman to have preliminary hearing in Nelsonville.

Death of James F. Pyle in Athens County
James F. Pyle died at his West Union Street home Thursday last, aged 55, after a year of consumption. A longtime Athens County resident, he lived in Los Angeles with his son for a time before returning home. The Methodist church funeral was held Sunday at 3 p.m. with Rev. Slutz officiating, and burial followed in the new cemetery.

Tree falls on horse near Derthick killing it instantly
Glouster May 8 John Hayden and his son sheltered under a tree during a sudden storm on their Derthick farm. The old tree blew over and rolled down the hill landing on the horse, which died instantly. A stray note claims 64 Berlin shops sell only horseflesh.
