Middleport Mrs. Leo Bee son s group of the Women s Association of First Presbyterian Church met Monday evening at the home of Mrs. Forrest Griffin with assistant hostesses Mrs Fred Healy and Mrs Ralph Benning. Seventeen members and four guests attended including Mrs. Dea Hayes president and others. Benning led devotions and a white elephant sale was held during social hour. Pomeroy Senior High School held a V E Day assembly in the senior high auditorium on May 9 arranged by Miss Edith Bowen sponsor. The program opened with the Pledge led by William Zah and Lawrence Rose. The Lord's Prayer followed, read by Ruth Halbrecht, with a meditation by Jane Clifford. Dorothea Reed sang and Abbee Fisher played piano. The assembly closed with hymns and songs including My Faith Looks Up to Thee and Onward Christian Soldiers under Mrs. Alice Nease.
