The Senate prepared to approve two recovery bills while awaiting House action on Roosevelt’s $4.5 billion lending program. Senator Pat Harrison will submit a conference report on the $5.33 billion revenue bill. The chamber may also consider a bill to authorize RFC loans to railroads for new equipment and maintenance.

SAN FRANCISCO U P Staff Sergeant Samuel B Edgeman stationed at the San Francisco army presidio was held under military arrest today on a charge of stealing secret army documents. Edgeman was detained in the presidio guardhouse awaiting court martial Friday.

Columbus reports a man and a woman bandit used a strip technique on two hitch-hikers. The duo robbed them of money and most of their clothes with the woman forcing the victims at gunpoint while the man waited in an automobile.
