Computer Delays Highlighted by Ballot Reader Failure
A stalled counting process due to a jammed ballot reader delayed results as a circuit problem and a blown fuse went undetected. An IBM rep fixed the reader at Haning Hall, but some ballots were misrouted or removed, delaying final tallies. County turnout lagged with 32.1 percent voting. Ohio University students largely abstained.
