The J. H. Grayson Manufacturing Co in Athens has completed re organization and raised 100000 for working capital. The board reshaped leadership, appointing Ray W. Royer secretary treasurer and J H Grayson as plant manager.
U S Senator George H Moses after two months in Europe returns to say the Republican party will split if President Harding makes the world court an issue. He opposes the court as a league of nations body and warns reservations could alter its nature. He argues the court would be unnecessary if divorced from the league.
In Chillicothe Ohio on May 8 the case of Judge Peter J. Blosser versus Richard Enderlin opened with the defense succeeding on a motion for a special hearing by Judge F M Clevenger. Enderlin acted as agent for the 1917 Camp Sherman War Council and signed the contract in question. The prosecution argues the government indemnifies Enderlin for jury damages, while the defense treats it as a private suit between individuals.
A 17 year old girl found in a box car at Chillicothe after noon claims no name but recalls work at Grayson stove factory in Athens. She may be Mrs. Jucy Eddleman Gast from East Union Street, who left home Monday seeking a ride. Another 16 year old colored girl named Kinney was located in West Virginia.

R H Hudson head of the simplified practices bureau says waste totals ten billion dollars yearly across industries. He cites autos stoves cigars and housebuilding as targets with potential ten percent cost cuts from fewer product varieties.
In Cincinnati Ohio on May 7 Jacob Flowers age years son of Buell Flowers was killed when he ran into the street in front of an approaching car. Robert E Scallon the driver faces a manslaughter charge though witnesses say the collision was unavoidable.
Miss Helen Hare of Marion is named an examiner in the Ohio state building and loan department. She recently resigned as secretary for the Citizens' Building and Loan Co. of Marion.
Chicago May 8 a special train carried David Benton Jones ill with cancer arrives from Los Angeles in 47 hours 17 minutes including water stops and engine changes. The prior land speed record was 44 hours 54 minutes set in July 1905 by Death Valley Scott.
Mary Helen Kinney a 16 year old daughter of Mrs Lizzie Kinney of Currier Street is missing from home and thought to have run away with the Smith Brothers carnival. She was last seen Sunday in Athens wearing a dark blue tafetta dress black sandals a gray cape a wrist watch and a ring with red stones Mrs Kinney is vigorously searching for her.
General economic conditions show marked improvement over last year says Henry C. Wallace. Cotton wool oats and butter prices higher. textile cloth up almost twice, corn up 50 percent, wheat states have favorable prospects according to the agriculture secretary.

Crushed slag has been laid on the worn pike to Clarks Chapel from East bridge with more repairs planned. The hill pike from the hilltop down Long Run, built by local farmers, is finished and deemed a fine improvement.
