CENTRALIA Mo May 7. Thomas Durk ninety seven a British veteran of the Battle of Balaklava died at his Murray County home south of here. He witnessed the charge of the Light Brigade celebrated by Tennyson. He was famed as a steady walker and routinely walked twenty miles to Columbia refusing rides.
The failure of the brokerage firm Post Brothers and Company was announced at the stock exchange. The firm had been admitted to the exchange in November 1990.
Belfast May 8 Two men one a member of the Ulster constabulary and the other believed to be a republican were killed today when armed raiders attacked the house of a constable at Castle Caulfield Castle Caulfield in Tyrone Ulster.

Washington on May 8 The United States said it would not recognize the Obregon government or any successor regime in Mexico until guarantees are given that American citizens property will not be confiscated under the Carranza 1917 constitution. The policy bars official relations with Mexico until such assurances are provided.
