Arrogance Of Class: Eugene McCarthy And Kennedy Clash
The piece argues liberal intellectuals oppose Kennedy and rally behind McCarthy, detailing votes on poverty, civil rights, and the Vietnam War. It contrasts Kennedy’s anti poverty work with McCarthy’s migrant wage votes, questions machine support, and analyzes motives and ambitions within the Democratic field. The author argues the real enemy is the pro-war, pro-establishment wing led by Humphrey, not Kennedy or McCarthy themselves.
