Kent State Candle Vigil Marks Anniversary of 1970 Shootings

Kent State University in Kent Ohio held a candlelight vigil and memorial service to mark the death of four students killed by National Guardsmen on May 4 1970. About 2000 students gathered near Blanket Hill and paid silent tribute in half hour shifts through midnight. Ahern a member of the Presidents Commission criticized President Nixon for not ending the war in Indochina and urged gun control while Dick Gregory condemned government actions toward antiwar demonstrators. Congress Extends Nixon Wage Price Control Authority
