Proposed Allegheny Parkway Could Boost West Virginia
West Virginia eyes a 360 mile Allegheny Parkway linking Maryland to Kentucky Virginia. The multi county route would include roadside parks and campsites and spur tourism growth with an estimated cost of 350 to 500 million dollars. Hearings May 9 before Sen. Bible's interior sub committee will decide the path forward with federal support and regional lobbying shaping the outcome. The project mirrors the Blue Ridge Parkway model, with potential yearly tourist spending around 35 million dollars and broad regional impact across 17 counties from the panhandle to the southern border.
