Ten Athens High School students will take over city offices on Wednesday for the second annual Elks Government Day. Selected by a school-wide vote, the seniors will observe duties from mayor to water department clerk, learning how city government operates under supervision of local officials.
In Athens Troops 54 and 56 held a combined meeting at the Church of the Good Shepherd parish hall with Scoutmasters Richard Whitehouse and Jerry Rushton. Last week's skating party attracted 150 attendees. another skate is planned for May. Next troop meeting is Monday May 9. Some scouts will finish a nine week first aid course led by Gertrude Linnenbruegge. They plan to attend the Kootaga Area Council Camporee at Williamstown West Virginia June 1. Cub Pack 56 met at Mrs. Clark Myers home to set May 23 for the next monthly pack meeting with a circus theme. Cubmaster is Robert LaFollette. Frank Helm leads the pack committee.
