Marines Offer $2500 Bonus For High School Grads Enlisting
Captain David L. Sineck announced a new $2,500 cash bonus for high school graduates enlisting in the Marines infantry artillery or tracked vehicle programs for four years. The offer applies only in May and June with delay of active duty until late June. Middleport Girl Cited After US 33 Mishap in Gallia County
At 9:47 p.m. Monday on US 33 near County Road 20 in Gallia County a vehicle driven by 16 year old Jill E. Smith of Middleport ran off the road and U turned in front of a vehicle driven by 56 year old Charles Zoiman of Columbus. Smith was cited into Meigs County Juvenile Court for failure to yield right of way. No injuries and moderate damage reported to both vehicles.

Rutland Couple Injured In Meigs County Crash
Two Rutland residents Milo Hutchison and his wife were hurt when their eastbound truck turned left in front of a car driven by Bobby Shelton of Oak Hill on County Road 52 near the Meigs-Vinton line. Shelton complained of injuries. all were taken to Holzer Medical Center by a local ambulance. Meigs County Sheriff's Department investigated.

Pomeroy police arrested two men after a high speed chase through Pomeroy. George Adkins of Racine drove the car at over 80 mph before being stopped in Racine by Meigs County Sheriff Captain Robert Beegle. Adkins faces reckless operation. Donald Stobart of Racine Route 1 held on prior warrants and will appear in county court. Adkins to appear in Mayors Court.
