Brush Fire Burns 20 Acres At Crab Creek

The Crab Creek brush fire burned about 20 acres near the barn and home of E. E. Bostic, owned by William Morton, on Monday afternoon. Neighbors helped fight the flames as the fire department responded to the out of control blaze in Point Pleasant.

Sunshine Makers Class Meets at First Presbyterian

In Syracuse the Sunshine Makers Class of the First Presbyterian Sunday School held a remeeting with 12 members present. Margaret Winebrenner led devotions and the business session. topics included fund raising ideas and an Easter Sunday group photo. A traveling basket from Margaret Cottrill was given to Helen Diddle. Bible study was led by Helen Harris, followed by discussion and refreshments during social hour. Other members included Agnes White, Genevieve Schneider, Beatrice Blake, Gertrude Duffy, Laura Pickens, Naomi London, Esther Harden, and Anna Grace Oiler.

Rose S. Martin, senior cashier in the accounting department at Appalachian Power Co Point Pleasant district, was awarded a five year service award. Retarded Children Talk Topic at Mason County Meeting

Dr. Kathryn Rainbow of Lakin State Hospital spoke at the Mason County Association for Retarded Children meeting in the Appalachian Power Co venue. A movie was shown and a discussion followed about a vocational rehab program starting at age 14 or 15 to train mentally retarded individuals for self-supporting jobs.

Man Bound To Jury By Justice In Point Pleasant

Roscoe Redman of Point Pleasant waived caring and was bound to the grand jury on a charge of resisting arrest before Justice of Peace A. M. Goodwin. Bond set at 500 dollars. he remained jailed after failing to post. James Leonard of Hogsett fined 25 dollars plus costs for fishing without a license and 10 dollars plus costs for assault and battery. James Olin Campbell paid 10 dollars plus costs for improper brakes. Archie Hayman and Robert Richard Rollins each fined 10 dollars plus costs for lacking valid vehicle inspection stickers. Raymond J. Ridgeway of New Haven cited for driving while intoxicated paid 50 dollars plus costs, license revoked six months, and 24 hours in jail.

State Conference Planned For April

State tax commissioner calls for a conference of county officials in Charleston on April 8. Films Planned by Chamber of Commerce for Public Viewing

The Chamber of Commerce will present two films on Wednesday March 29 at 7 30 p m in the Appalachian Auditorium.
