Easter Seal Campaign Swings Into High Gear
The Easter Seal Drive moves into high gear with seals mailed and coin containers distributed. Edward Goodwin, drive chairman, says volunteers from two service clubs and Boy Scouts assist, with 76 percent of funds staying in Athens County for crippled children and adults. The county orthopedic clinic aids 60 to 80 children twice yearly, funding shoes, braces, transportation, and summer camps. The drive also supports equipment for a Mount St. Mary Hospital therapy center and loaned wheelchairs and crutches. Local groups Beta Sigma Phi, BP&W, and Boy Scouts coordinate mailings and box distribution.
