MIDDLEPORT, March 28. Two chicken heads and one guilty conscience placed William McLean of Gravel Hill in jail Sunday morning. Officers say the chicken heads were outside his house and a home brew supply inside helped explain the alleged chicken theft. McLean refused to come out or let officers in, prompting a forced entry where beer was found.

Aged Qualey Resident Daniel Morey Dead at 84
Daniel Morey aged 84 a retired farmer and prominent resident of Washington County died at his Qualey home Saturday morning after a long illness. He was born July 2 1847 in Brad dock Pa and came to the county at age 14. He oversaw construction of the old Marietta Mineral Railroad and later farmed in Warren and Fairfield townships. He married Jane Moffett on December 22 1870 and is survived by a son F G Morey of Roswell New Mexico and two daughters Mrs N Mindling and Mrs M BE Root of Cutler plus five grandchildren.
