The Ohio Valley Museum of Discovery moves from State Street to 67 Columbus Road the former First Church of God. Staff pack up items as renovations are pending with outdoor events planned at the new site this spring and summer. Earth Day events and discovery labs at Athens County Public Libraries are planned, with fundraisers like OU Orbit scheduled for March 26 at Tailgreat Park.

World War II veteran finally awarded long delayed medals

Samuel D. Morgan, 93, received the Bronze Star and Asiatic Pacific Medal at a March 17 ceremony in Jackson, completing overdue recognition for combat service in the 7th Infantry. The event, assisted by U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown and the Jackson County Veterans Commission, also honored Morgan with a Defense Secretary certificate and his 1941 Jackson High diploma.

Meth resurgence tied to heroin crisis alarms Ohio officials

Franklin County officials warn methamphetamine and cocaine arrests rose sharply as heroin and synthetic opioids devastate Ohio. OU denies wrongdoing in Court of Claims case over 2015 wreck

Ohio University responds to a Court of Claims suit filed by Catherine Bailey and a concurrent Indiana action naming OU Grange Mutual Casualty Co and Daniel Michaud. The university says Michaud was not authorized to drive the van and that claims include concussion cognitive dysfunction spinal fracture and permanent injury with medical costs over 93000 and damages sought over 50000.

Buchtelman charged with felonious assault in county case

Blake Kline 31 is charged with a second degree felony felonious assault and criminal damaging after allegedly attacking a female employee at Athens County Job and Family Services in Millfield. Deputies later apprehended him in the Buchtel area. preliminary hearing set in Athens County Municipal Court for March 27.
