U S Air Force B52 bombers have conducted about 191 massive raids on South Vietnam since June, targeting Viet Cong jungle hideouts. Each mission averages 10 aircraft carrying 750 pound bombs, aiming to disrupt tunnels, hospitals, food caches, and morale while guiding ground sweeps.

A month’s second blizzard paralyzed the north central and Plains, halting travel as 21 killed. The decision cites the equal protection clause of the 14th Amendment and contrasts with remaining states still using the tax in Mississippi and Vermont.
Sgt Raymond E Leighton spoke of his wife and two sons in his final letter as a Marine in Vietnam. He was killed Monday when a captain delivered the news at Erna Leighton's home. The letter described candy and cake from home and his claim to be the luckiest man alive.
