Steubenville reports an all day search for Dr. Carol Cole a St. Louis physician who allegedly died when a mail plane crashed into the Ohio River carrying pilot Harold George The river search failed to locate the woman and investigators planned to comb hills along both river banks for possible escape or survival clues A possible theory is that Dr Cole leaped from the plane before the crash onto a river island or bank
The legislative advisory committee of the Ohio State Automobile Association adopted resolutions favoring diversion of gasoline tax funds and automobile license fees as an unemployment relief measure in Columbus on March 23.
In Sao Paulo on March 23 a party heads into the jungle to locate the phantom trail of Col. P. H. Fawcett who vanished seven years ago with his son Jack and Englishman Raleigh Rimell. They sought a lost civilization to prove South America as humanity's cradle. The trio disappeared into the vast jungle.

The Athens County Red Cross reports 500 garden seed packages available for residents unable to pay. Each kit covers an acre, includes multiple vegetables, and recipients must sign requests at Miss Pearl French’s office. Bequests to William Livingston not taxed. Alfred E Livingston taxed on 6744.84 total to son. Amzy R Ely will filed. hearing set for March 25.
Severe wind and electrical storms hit Belpre and Parkersburg on Tuesday morning. Homes were destroyed and roofs torn off while trees and power lines were damaged. Harley H. Kelly’s home near Main and Eighth Streets was blown off its foundation. Mr and Mrs Kelly and seven children were asleep inside with several children cut or bruised and one boy badly hurt.
In Columbia Missouri a long running feud between University of Missouri engineering and law students escalated to gunfire injuring three engineers Frank Luckey, Charlie Love and Jerry Cebe and wounding law student Burnis Frederick who was captured after kidnapping co ed Mary Louise Butterfield. Frederick shot Love and Luckey then was beaten and bound by the engineers before being delivered to a hospital.
In Cleveland on March 23, Frank Derrig pleaded guilty to driving while intoxicated. Judge Alfred L. Steuer sentenced him to 30 days in the work house but suspended the sentence for 90 days if he refrains from driving. Derrig, sole support for two families, was ordered to surrender his license plates. He claimed he had none and borrowed plates. the judge then ordered him to turn in his carburetor.
Columbus report says the Senate committee investigating penal and welfare institutions prepared a final report on findings at the Marysville Women's Reformatory today. Members signaled possible personnel changes after sensational witness testimony. Mrs Redmond Norris testified her husband, a former employer, carried on a flirtation with a prisoner from Vinton County who allegedly received exceptional privileges.

The jury returned a verdict for the defendant. Separately Lucy Bodkins filed for divorce from Floyd E Bodkins in the same court alleging wilful absence.
The Public Utilities Commission authorized the Detroit Toledo and Ironton Railroad to discontinue passenger service between Springfield and the Ohio Michigan state line. The change takes effect April 9, removing service along that route.
United Press report from Alabama describes towns wrecked homes and injured residents after a major windstorm. Governor Miller appealed for aid as workers documented devastation across Chilton and nearby counties, including deaths and displaced families.
Columbus report to Governor White recommends a new superintendent for the Marysville Reformatory for Women. Mrs. Louise Mittendorf is named. her husband would be assistant superintendent. The welfare committee notes aging leadership and urges consideration of a suitable successor to bring necessary reforms.
John A. Lockard a Wellston pioneer died Tuesday at White Cross Hospital Columbus after being taken there Monday. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at his daughter Mrs Gus Campbell's home. Burial in local cemetery. He once ran a grocery and meat market then shifted to coal interests. Survived by three daughters Mrs Gus Campbell Mrs Arthur Handley Mrs Dean Turner and two sons John in Kentucky and Arthur of Wellston. Also two brothers William and Edward and two sisters Mrs Charles Trace and Mrs H P Mee Gee.
A car traveling at about 70 mph crashed off Fischer Hill in Moreland Hills Village near Cleveland, burying 600 feet off the road and bursting into flames. Miss Mabel Kinse and Kenneth Gerbich, both of Chagrin Falls, died. Dorothy Smith and William Stoneman, also of Chagrin Falls, were near death at St Luke's Hospital.
A man described as educated and of strong character began a voluntary fast to protest the economic situation and unemployment. The photograph shows him on the eighteenth day of the fast, age fifty seven, with three scholarly degrees, in Washington.
The Athens County Chapter of the American Red Cross is designated active distributing agency for government wheat in Athens County. The Red Cross and Community Welfare Association formed a central coordinating plan with the county Red Cross Chapel in charge. A survey will determine the wheat amount and distribution timing, with milling by non profit mills and no applications for wheat yet.
Six Communists faced trial in Atlanta on charges of attempting insurrection, a crime Fulton County officials say could carry the death penalty. Assistant solicitor general John H. Hudson told the United Press he would seek the death penalty. The defendants were indicted for circulating Communistic literature at a meeting raided by police two years ago. They were jailed for months and later released on bond.
London reports the British cabinet weighing a firm stance on Eamon De Valera's plan to renounce the oath of allegiance and land annuities. Britain aims to uphold the Anglo Irish treaty terms, seek dignified dispute handling, and consider tribunal referral if needed.
