James Calder Swan Dies at Home After Illness

Woman Leads 60 Strikers In Mine Attack
Cadiz March 23. Sixty striking miners led by a woman attacked 30 non-union workmen emerging from a Sommers area mine. Kari Christy the mine superintendent was knocked unconscious as tear gas bombs dispersed the mob. The attackers were led by Mrs John Penick wife of a union miner later arrested for inciting a riot. Major George Bolen reported all 30 workers were bruised. A warrant for Mrs Penick's arrest was sworn out.

Railroad Extensions Proposed in West Virginia
