Jackson area opens new Mental Health Clinic
The Community Mental Health and Retardation Board for Gallia Meigs and Jackson Counties toured the Jackson clinic as the trio now has a clinic in each county. The board aims to decrease waiting lists with more psychiatrist days and staff including a child psychiatrist psychologist social worker and mental health technicians. The facility operates on a fee schedule but offers care to all and is partly funded by a regional levy and mostly state funds. The board approved a three county plan for next year an application for federal funds for a comprehensive center and added Mary Martin of Meigs to the board while planning to hire another social worker. Rehabilitation services were discussed and Athens Center referred 75 patients in February with 130 prescriptions filled at no cost.
