Nelsonville holds a Good Friday union meditation from noon to 3 PM at the Presbyterian Church. Ministerial association members will deliver last words of Christ themed sermons. Clergy will preach in rotation with merchants urged to participate by observing the hours.
NELSONVILLE First Baptist Church announces Easter events with a sunrise service at 5:30 am and Sunday School at 9:20 am. Regular morning worship and communion led by Pastor Rev. B. J. Hall follow at 1:30 pm. WBA Review to host a benefit party at Spray Hall tonight at 7:30 pm.
Nelsonville High School hosts a girls dance for boys in the gym on Friday March 29 with escorts paid by the girls and a nickelodeon for music. An Easter kindergarten party was held for eighteen preschoolers on March 15 as part of a Child Care course. The State Scholarship Tests schedule lists Senior Tests March 30 and May 4 for District and Commercial Tests. FHA initiates 40 members to second degree and plans a skating party at Athens. refreshments served by a student committee.
Mrs Benson Adams enjoyed a surprise birthday gathering as her family traveled from Nelsonville Columbus Akron and Adrian to her home with a birthday meal. Daughters of America plan a benefit Friday night in Spray Hall at 7 45 and a public dance at Camp Nelson Friday at 8 30.
In a Central Alleys city league game Baties defeated New Straitsville Merchants 2660 to 2651 with Kelley leading Baties at 653 across three games 214 212 227. Calkins led New Straitsville with a 234 in singles while Lawson posted 475 series across games.

Holy Week services push the Cosmopolitan Club gathering with Mrs. Martin Ohlinger to March 29. The W B A Officers Club met at Spray Hall with dinner at Beatties attended by a list of members. Also notes on local residents and visitors accompany a historical line about U S steel production in 1886.
The Church of Christ in Nelsonville conducted the final 1940 special devotional hour led by Rev Lawrence Crawford. The Meditation focused on The Holy Spirit the Comforter with red lights and seven red candles and weekly sanctuary light flowers enhancing the solemn scene.
The Buchtel Alumni Association will meet Friday at 8 o clock in the high school building. Members should attend as important business will be conducted. Plans will be made for the upcoming banquet and dance.
Tonight at 7 p m in the Church of Christ the Upper Room Communion Service will be celebrated. Worshippers enter Fort St auditorium and sit in silent worship before being directed in groups of twelve to the Upper Room. Communicants may leave after a brief observance.
The Monday P T A will meet this evening at the Monday School at seven o clock. After the meeting games will be played and prizes awarded.
