Leaders in the Burn Ohio Coal movement met in Glouster at Mayor C F Wallace's office and chose The Ohio Coal Foundation as the group’s official title. An emblem will be selected later. Resolutions passed except for a clause condemning the state administration for the Burn Ohio Coal Bill defeat.
Deputy Sheriff Frank Burgstaller was shot while attempting to serve a truancy warrant at the Columbus home of Estella Schultz 61. Schultz admitted firing a .38 caliber pistol as Burgstaller tried to enter to execute the warrant. Schultz said I dont shoot good men though.
The Interior Department's 1940 supply bill totaling 159,543,905 gained House approval and moved to the Senate. An amendment by Rep. Dudley White would have limited family unit housing costs to 3,500 but was eliminated, opponents say it would have barred future housing developments.
