Floods sweep across eleven states causing widespread damage. Officials fear explosions from flooded gasoline tanks while communities battle rising waters and unusual flood-related incidents unfold from Wheeling to New Philadelphia.
President Roosevelt considers a sweep of disaster aid totaling nearly 400 million dollars as the Senate Commerce Committee works with Army engineers on a 300 million dollar flood control bill.
