Sheriff Seeks Jail Bars Tabled by County Commissioners

County Commissioners tabled a request by Sheriff George Bateman for new steel window bars at the county jail, saying costs must be estimated and bids sought. Bateman testified a bar was sawed through near the courthouse parking area, urging tool resistant materials. The panel plans to call Dog Warden Homer Barnhart Monday amid complaints linked to the Humane Society over a dead dog in a temporary kennel. They also discussed requiring a $10 000 blanket liability bond for all public employees, replacing the current per person bonds, with final action due Monday. An inspection of the County Home followed to verify county specifications before any funding.
