Armed Bandits Hold Up Mason Liquor Store

Two armed men robbed the state liquor store at Sixth and Main Street in Mason, taking about 720 from the cash register and customer billfolds. They fled in a car, descriptions noted by Clerk Fussell Noll and customer J. T. Sullivan, with authorities sweeping roads toward Charleston.

Plan Project School For Club Members

4-H club members from the northern county will attend a project school on Saturday morning March 28 at 9 oclock in the Wahama High School auditorium. Attendees will be divided into groups for subject study with instructors including Miss Virginia Parsons Mrs Clifford Dunn C C Anderson John Shoulders and Miss Marjorie Bell. Some projects will include field trips sewing preparation work and record keeping. Members are asked to bring project circulars.

Gallia Man Buys Cap Lane Farm Near Ashton

Everett Gill of Gallipolis C purchased the Cap Lane farm at Gallipolis Ferry from Walter Lewis Huntington furniture merchant and Mason County farmer. The 640 acre property includes over 100 acres of bottom land. Gill formerly ran a produce business in Gallipolis and the porch price is reported above 40 000 pounds.

George B. Lerner, longtime Pittsburgh-Renovation mail clerk, purchased the former Horace Smith filling station property in Hartford from Standard Oil Co. Riggs Family Returns From Southern Trip

Mr. and Mrs. Ernest J. Riggs traveled home from a southern journey with their son Ernest Jake Riggs Jr. On the road near Greenville South Carolina Jake became ill and was treated at an Army Air Base Hospital where appendicitis was diagnosed. He underwent surgery on Wednesday and is recovering with his parents staying nearby. Jake Riggs recently completed four years in the Army Air Corps and was promoted to captain before his discharge. He had planned to resume engineering studies at Ohio State University in the spring quarter.

Dixie G. Lamm Dies at Bidwell Home in Gallia County

Mrs Dixie Geraldine Lamm 25 died Sunday at her Bidwell Route 2 home after a long illness. She was the daughter of Wallace and the late Wealthy Waugh Lewis, once of Eureka. Survived by husband Charles L Lamm two young sons Charles Wallace 6 Freddie Merrill 5 sister Mrs Ivan Fife and her father Burial followed at Mt Zion Cemetery after funeral at Chambersburg Methodist Church.

Gallia Breeders to Attend Ohio Hereford Sale

Gallia County delegates will attend the Ohio Hereford sale in Columbus on March 25. Denny Hereford Farms of Vinton R. D. plans to consign four head, including a bull and three females, while H Coulter will offer two heifer calves. The event will feature about 100 cattle and judging the day before by Paul Swaffar of Richmond, Virginia. Ohio State University acts as secretary for the Ohio Hereford Association sponsoring the sale.

Boy Given Suspended Sentence for Fight

Billy Stanley an 18 year old from Henderson West Virginia was fined 50 dollars and costs and sentenced to six months in jail by Justice J Heenan Shate Monday morning. The jail term was suspended on the condition he remain in West Virginia. Stanley and Lola Lewis of Manchester were involved in a fight at Truckers Inn Special Deputy Sheriff Jim Mills was struck in the neck by Stanley and suffered a broken finger. The Lewis woman Lola Lewis was fined 10 dollars and costs. Both paid their fines and were released.

Five Injured Sunday In Auto Train Crash

Five Oak Hill residents were hospitalized at Holzer Hospital after an auto-train crash on a concrete bridge. Driver Earl Gray sustained chest injuries. Jesta Souders and Billy Souders had minor injuries. Jackie Souders and Kenneth Souders were released after examination. The car was pushed by a passing freight train after a truck struck it from behind, then collided with a tank car and the bridge.
