Yule Trees Destroyed In Blaze At Point Pleasant Farm
A mid day fire swept through the R M Giffen Christmas tree farm on Jerry Run Road destroying nearly six acres of trees. Manager Bart Long said neighbors contained the blaze in about an hour with about 4000 trees burned including 200 large specimens. Fire department access was hampered by backwater, and aid crews arrived after the fire was under control. Separately, a grass fire at 2612 Madison Avenue was extinguished in 15 minutes. Henderson police arrested Harry Daughtery on an assault and battery warrant prompted by a complaint from Mrs. George Mayes.
