In Meadville Pennsylvania a father of nine could not locate a ladder as five children died in an upstairs bedroom fire. Four other children and the wife escaped from second floor windows. Crestline Man Stabbed After Weekend Party

Perry Woman Slays Son and Attempts Suicide
In New Lexington and Crooksville, Anne Talbott 32 shot and killed her 4-year-old son Alan then wounded herself with a bullet to the forehead. The crime occurred between 9 30 and 10 p.m. Morris Talbott found them at the foot of the basement stairs. A 16 month old son slept upstairs uninjured. Mrs Talbott was in critical condition at Good Samaritan Hospital Zanesville. Sheriff Dave Moore said she was under a doctor s care for a nervous condition.
