Charles White of Buffalo West Virginia, about forty, was critically injured when a train derailed near Dexter. A steel fragment penetrated his skull three inches, leaving him unconscious for days before partial recovery. he remains in fair condition at his sister’s home near Hebbardsville. Gas blowout at Athens oil well ignites burning derrick
In Athens Territory a gas pocket in a second Caul well caused a dramatic blowout on Thursday night. Flames rose hundreds of feet, burning the derrick and lighting the sky for miles. Drillers Will Brooks and W Donaldson were slightly burned but quickly escaped. no serious injuries reported. The well, part of Athens Oil and Gas Company, marks the sixth drilled in the region. A new derrick was begun and will be completed soon. Arrangements for another well on Peter Pagan’s farm are set to proceed.

Brannon Seriously Injured After Fall From Horse in Park
R E Brannon of Athens and Chikamauga National Park was thrown from a horse during a windy, stormy ride last week. He suffered a broken leg above the knee and a badly fractured knee cap as the horse bolted home with no rider. Family feared a serious accident as he lay in snow and cold, but he was found hours later, initial reports described him in critical condition, with improvements noted as recovery began.

Fatally Injured In Campus Shooting At Daleton
Harvey Goff fell from a tipple at Daleton Monday after a hand spin over a fence. A pocket revolver discharged, hitting him below the hip and entering the lung.
