In Kokomo Indiana a family of four perished in a second floor garage apartment blaze. Paul Imlay 27 a filling station operator his wife Betty 24 and children Cindy 4 and William about 1 year old died after attempting to escape. Fire Chief Mannion said Imlay woke smelling smoke and tried to help but collapsed near a window. The wife and children were found at the bedroom door with arms outstretched toward safety.
