Washington AP May reopens House Military Committee inquiry into draft deferment policies. A special sub committee will meet to study proposed legislation to ban all but physical deferments for men ages 18 to 26 as concerns mount over the War Manpower Commission and McNutt policies.
The War Department will end deferments for most of 7,800 male civilians aged 21 to 26 on its payrolls as part of a broader move to mobilize younger manpower.
