Car overturns on berm kills Crown City man
Leo Cecil Halley aged 23 of Crown City Route 1 died Saturday night when his car left the highway, slid onto the berm and overturned pinning him inside. State Patrol said he died of a broken neck and crushed chest. The accident occurred about 9 05 pm two miles north of the Routes 790 and 218 junction, two miles north of Mercerville on Route 218. Emmett Sheets found the overturned vehicle. Deputies Nibert and Ehman investigated. Halley was born April 10 1926 in Walnut township and is survived by his father James C Halley and his mother Emma Thornton Halley who died four years ago, plus brothers Preston, and Lowell and Imogene. Services set for 2 pm Tuesday at Mercerville Baptist Church with Rev Llewellyn Saunders officiating. Burial in Haskins Cemetery on the home farm.

Chauncey Man Is Arrested In Iowa Town
Chauncey postal employee Denver Bricker was arrested in Inglegrove Iowa on a grand larceny charge. He allegedly stole $660 from his mother in law Mrs Mary Omen and was later moved to Clarion jail. Extradition papers were prepared and Bricker waived extradition. He was reportedly arrested at a sister's home in Wright county.

One Killed Two Hurt In Gas Cloud Explosion
