Nelsonville York Groups Earn District Music Honors
Nelsonville York City School District bands and vocal groups competed March 2 at Athens in District Five instrumental and vocal music auditions. Senior and junior bands earned superior ratings for solos and ensembles, with multiple quartets and ensembles receiving excellent and good marks. Vocal solos and ensembles also earned high ratings, highlighting strong performances by students under Miss Mollie Jackson and band directors Miss Mary Jane McKinley and Miss Kathy McCoy.

Science projects will be displayed and judged tonight at Logan High School from 7 30 to 9 p m. The event combines Career Night with Open House as parents meet with Tri County Vocational School and Technical Institute representatives to discuss training and enrollment. Glouster Club Sets Parish Hall Meeting and Dance

Free roaming Athens County dog ends up in pound
A small mixed breed dog and one of her pups were picked up by the Athens County Dog Warden Friday morning after a long period of running free in the Kontner Mill Fort Street area. Neighbors and police tried to catch her, and she had raised two litters, with homes found for the last litter. The surviving pup and mother were taken to the Athens County Dog Pound, leaving supporters to wonder about their future care.

Two Arrested After Fight in Nelsonville Mayor Court
Nelsonville police jailed Clarence Warren 42 and Norman Oscar Mount 29 after an early Sunday altercation near Friendly Tavern on West Columbus Street. Warren pleaded guilty to disturbing the peace and resisting an officer with $25 fines plus costs. Mount pleaded guilty to interfering with an officer and also drew $25 and costs. Eight People Appear Before Judge Stilwell
