A Delta Airlines DC-4 crashed after takeoff from Chicago Municipal Airport in a snow flurry. Twelve of 13 aboard died. the sole survivor was Mrs. Tripolino Meo of Oak Lawn, severely burned, with her son among the dead. An inquest was set for Friday with a blue ribbon aviation panel.

A Navy transport plane carrying 19 persons crash landed and burned at a foggy auxiliary airport near Donaldsville Louisiana, injuring two crew members. The craft was 15 minutes from New Orleans when its fourth engine faltered, tearing wing parts as it could not return to the city.
