Sunday Creek Coal sells mineral rights in Dover and York Twps

Sunday Creek Coal Co sold about 3 600 acres of mineral rights in Dover and York townships to Olds Investments LLC of Worthington and The Cabin LLC of Somerset for about 13 333 dollars. Olds is tied to Solid Rock Energy and is a 2002 Ohio Oil and Gas Association Hall of Fame inductee. The Cabin LLC is led by Richard C Poling of R C Poling Co who has decades in oil and gas and has drilled wells for Olds. The deed covers roughly 1 800 acres of minerals plus 1 400 acres coal and 400 acres oil and gas rights. The deed was recorded in March. The Messenger could not reach Poling or Olds for comment.

Athens mulls land donation for safety training site

Athens officials eyed a 15 acre parcel off Route 56 for a safety services training site. The plan includes EMS use for a west Athens station, with city county leaders to pursue an agreement if the owner agrees to donate the land.
