Continued Rains Pose Serious Flooding Threats

The Ohio River and tributaries faced possible flooding as weekend rains swelled waters from Pom eroy to Gallipolis and Cincinnati. At 11 a.m. the Ohio River showed no immediate danger near Pomeroy, while Point Pleasant reported 34% feet, far below flood stage. The Weather Bureau warned of rising levels with Cincinnati potentially exceeding 52 feet by dawn and more than a foot rise by sundown. the Red Cross prepared for emergency duty as waterways threatened riverbank homes. Roads in the region were blocked and authorities planned water-covered highway closures if conditions worsened.

Chicago Cleans Up After Destructive South Side Tornado

Court Judges Reform Plan Advances in Ohio

The Ohio Legislature will be asked to approve a state constitutional amendment to change how supreme and appellate court judges are chosen. The Ohio State Bar Association backs a 10 member nominating commission that would propose three qualified names to the governor, who would appoint one. Nine Die In Plane Crash Near Biggs AFB
