Taft Calls for Global Understanding and Honest Self-Image
Charles P. Taft spoke to the Gallipolis Rotary Club on Sunday night urging steps to foster international understanding. He argued progress starts with Americans expressing lived values, explaining the human dimension behind foreign relations, and showing homes and work rather than relying on cinema or stereotypes. Taft noted the Iron Curtain poses a hostile background, and called for more effective interpretation of America abroad by travelers and officials. He campaigned non-politically within Rotary rules while seeking thoughtful messaging about the United States.
