Fifteen tons of scrap metal including machine castings bridge iron and stationary engine parts were stolen from the Pomeroy Junk Co. yard in upper Pomeroy last night. Chief Walter Wolfe said the metal could have been loaded into one truck and alerted authorities and junk dealers in surrounding towns to watch for a large truck. Charles Ward owner did not estimate the value of the loss.
Shenandoah Pennsylvania residents face another collapse as a cave-in endangers 4000 people and triggers a large scale evacuation. Gov James and federal investigators inspect 1000 feet of mine passages while damage is estimated at 1 million dollars and causes gas leaks and ruined homes.
In Columbus the Columbus Town Meeting heard Patrick J. Dunn urge halting employed married women with C. W. Vance presenting Dunn’s view. Dunn previously backed a bill to bar husband and wife from state jobs, a measure killed in committee last year.
Camp Nelson in Nelsonville placed under quarantine after Herbert S. Eaton age 19 of Flushing was diagnosed with cerebral spinal meningitis. Eaton was moved to Ft Hayes Hospital in Columbus on Monday. All 175 CCC youths undergo twice daily physical examinations under Lieut. C. R. Marshall.
Warrants charging conspiracy in operation of vice and gambling issued against Sheriff Thomas C. Wilcox, Prosecutor Duncan McCrea, and about twenty others by a special grand jury probing graft. The raid on the grand jury offices followed the planned seizure of records by 15 men led by an assistant prosecutor.
Columbus report says thirty four men and one woman selected for Ohio State University's freshman medical class. Notable names include Clark Biedel of Marietta and former Athens resident, and Charles Stevers of Gallipolis.

Hammond Burton 64 Democratic treasurer of Washington County was found dead in his courthouse office with a poison bottle beside him. Coroner R. W. Riggs ruled death by own action. State Examiners were auditing his books yesterday. relatives offered no reason for the tragedy.

Albert Quivey age 83 died at his home in Darwin this morning. He is survived by two sons Millard of Darwin and Elwood of Bowen NL and five daughters Cora Ator of Pratts Fork Erma Douglas of Faris IL Verna Scott of Dallas City NL Nora Haning of Montgomery WV and Clarice Day of Alfred. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at two o'clock at Burlingham Church with burial in Burlingham Cemetery.
In New York the infant son of aviator Henry T. Merrill and actress Toby Wing died after pulling clothes over his head while left alone for about 20 minutes. The child, Henry, would have been one year old on March 18.
Marvin Cosgrove 93 Civil War veteran who fought at Gettysburg died here today. He served in the Union forces and lived in Bucyrus. Funeral arrangements were not announced.
