Fire destroys warehouses in Pittsburgh blaze
A large fire at Campbell, Chess & Co on Water Street destroyed the Iron and Nail Warehouse and swept through adjacent firms including Ed wards Morris & Co and Jacob Forsyth. The flames reached T Woods & Co Armstrong Crosier & Co Lorenz & Whiteman but were stopped with no serious injuries. Loss estimated at about 75000 dollars. Cause unknown. Lancaster Gazette notes the House of Correction proposal for juvenile offenders and argues for reform and humane treatment.
