Bengals face 2017 cap as NFL sets salary limit

The NFL capped 2017 at 167 million, up 13 million from 2016. The Bengals hold about 131.7 million in 2017 salaries and roughly 6 million rollovers, leaving nearly 41 million to re-sign 16 free agents and others when the new league year opens March 9. They expect about 15 million available for free agency, unlikely to re-sign Andrew Whitworth Kevin Zeitler or Dre Kirkpatrick, and will mainly add via 11 draft picks and compensatory picks rather than big outside targets.
