Security Director urges professional police on campus at OU
Ohio University security chief Robert Guinn told Kiwanis that the campus needs a full police force as theft and crime rise. He noted a 35 member force since 1970, with $50,000 in student personal property stolen last year and $1.5 million in university property per guard on peak shifts. He outlined 20 000 parking tickets last year yielding $37,000, and said the department handles major drug cases and ambulance services for campus since 1967, averaging about 50 emergency calls monthly.
