Local Athens educator Dixie Grow leads child care program efforts

Dixie Grow, instructor-coordinator in child care at Tri-County Vocational High School in Nelsonville, divides her day between teaching and supervising students training as child care aides. An OU graduate, she pursues a masters in home economics while coordinating a day care center study group with Jackie Cortez. She and her husband Bruce, OU engineering graphics instructor pursuing a PhD, have a 15 month old son Brent. The couple aims to advance day care in Athens despite fears of communism or family disintegration, and Dixie continues research for a masters thesis on teacher aides. The family enjoys swimming when time permits.
