Boxing To Get Renovation by Illinois Solons
CHICAGO March 2 U R All the gutta percha has been removed from boxing rules in Illinois now that the new State Athletic Commission is in office and functioning. Joseph Tuiner Chairman has declared a moratorium on chiselers hangers on ring parasites and all others who want boxing favors which call for special decisions and elasticity of judgment in the matter of rules. Tuiner and Packey McFarland the other new member of the ring body are conferring daily with physicians to make more stringent medical regulations for the protection of boxers the commission and the public. The boxing game is not in good shape said Tuiner The public hasnt been turning out lately and the Schaaf tragedy at New York has raised a commotion that wont be lived down for some time. I can see only one way to run boxing and that is to stick to the ring laws of Lilinois Everybody receives the same treatment here If they abide by the rules fine If they dont then our commission will see that they do or out they go.
