In Royal Oak Michigan Mrs Myron Sibley Boyer admitted purchasing an infant to fulfill her husband Myron Sibley Boyer’s wish for a child. The suit seeks expungement of the birth record and argues the child was bought from a Windsor Ontario hotel maid.
Milka Sablich a noted girl strike leader entered Work People's College in Duluth Minnesota to study public speaking labor problems and political economics. She led bands of rioting strikers during the Colorado mine war and was injured by a mounted mine guard.
Canon William Chase of Brooklyn, head of the National Reform federation, told the Senate committee that the motion picture industry peddles debasing literature and gutting thrills. He urged passage of the Brookhart bill to regulate the industry as hearings continued.
Washington reports that President John L. Lewis of the United Mine Workers declined to personally intervene in the Pittston Pennsylvania mine disputes after four killings. He said established dispute procedures should not be abandoned and noted that further conferences are planned and that if no agreement is reached the government's joint conciliation board may assist.
Two unidentified 7 or 8 year old boys were found in the Lake Michigan Calumet river canal and nearby in Indiana Harbor. Police suspect they are brothers as both bodies show similar features and were bound with wire. Post mortems found no water in the lungs. the later corpse had a black eye mark and missing teeth.
Governor McMullen of Nebraska told reporters at the White House that the fourteen midwestern states will back a presidential candidate who strongly supports farm relief. He said he would back a wet Democrat over a dry Republican and urged crossing party lines for adequate agricultural rehabilitation. He predicted Nebraska would back Norris initially, then Lowden, with Dawes as a third choice.
A Baltimore man arrested with a 14 year old girl from Steubenville Ohio was tried in criminal court and sentenced to six months in jail on the charge of carnal knowledge according to police authorities.

Miss Ceceli Dobrynski a 32 year old music teacher and church organist of Dillonvale Ohio was found guilty of transporting liquor and fined 100 dollars and costs. Her brother Joe Dobrynski 23 of Dillonvale pleaded guilty and fined 400 dollars and costs. Fines paid by sister Miss Sallie Dobrynski of Detroit. The coupe driven by the brother with four cases of Canadian liquor was ordered sold and the liquor deProved.
Mrs Harvey D Ulmer wife of Crawford county sheriff has returned home after disappearing with her infant son. She said she was visiting at the home of a sister and was absent briefly before coming back.
Washington reports Dr Paul R Heyl of the U S Bureau of Standards conducts a third world weighing experiment. He has studied world weighing since 1926 and confirmed the earth’s mass as about 6 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 tons. He aims to refine figures this year.
New York March 2 A T T is named the United States’ first four billion dollar corporation with assets near 2.5 billion and Bell System ownership of 93 percent. The 1927 report notes expansion into Trans Atlantic radio and TV, and plans to spend two billion more in five years.
The state highway department will open bids for a state roadwork project estimated at 1 931 405 30 dollars. Counties to benefit include Belmont Carroll Columbiana Guernsey Harrison Lucas Nobles and Trumbull with bids deferred for Seneca Medina Madison and Franklin.
