Athens gunsmith Foster makes custom rifles for hunters and hobbyists
Franklin Foster, a 55-year-old Athens resident and father, runs the last professional gunsmith shop in Southeastern Ohio. He builds firearms from black walnut stocks using German actions, spends weeks detailing each gun to customer specs, and also offers shooting advice and discussions with customers who visit his shop behind his Union Street home.
