A suspicious apartment house fire on Vine Street near Ohio University East Green damaged a three story student-occupied residence owned by Carmen Scrubbio. Firefighters sustained minor injuries while battling flames that reached the attic. the blaze began in a second floor closet and prompted condemnation plans under a university urban renewal ordinance.

City Dance Classes Start Saturday
The Athens recreation department offers teen and adult dance classes starting Saturday at 8:30 p.m. in the old gym at Athens High School. Dr. Freda Phillips will teach fox trot, waltz, tango, cha cha, rhumba and samba with sessions on July 1, 15, 29, Aug. 12 and 19. Registration costs $2.50 and can be mailed to Robert Burson or paid at the first session. Caroline Wright Kuhl earned a BA from Marietta College at its 130th commencement.

Shade Girl Hurt In Crash On Garden Road
A 19 year old Shade woman was slightly injured in a two car collision on Garden Road 44 Wednesday afternoon. Sue Fulton 19 of Shade pulled from Fulton Road into the path of Harry King 27 of Guysville as he drove down Shade Garden Road. Miss Fulton suffered minor injuries but was not hospitalized and was cited for no operator's license.
