Wellston Boy Drowns At Lake Alma During Picnic
John Albert Jacobs fourteen of Wellston drowned at Lake Alma near Wellston Thursday afternoon during a family picnic. Swimmers did not miss him until after a thunderstorm threatened. his clothing was found and divers located the body about 50 feet from the beach at 7:18 p.m. The coroner ruled accidental death. He would have been a Freshman at Wellston High School. He is survived by his parents and three brothers. Funeral arrangements are by Gaskill funeral homes. A power outage delayed presstime operations at The Messenger. Ohio ranked third in building public schools in 1962 per School Management magazine.
