Three Ohio University English teachers from Athens Ohio completed a raft journey down the Mississippi following Mark Twain's Huck Finn. They faced sunburn blisters and bugs and were marooned overnight near New Madrid Missouri. They burned the raft upon arrival in northern Arkansas and swam to town for groceries.
Washington report states the Reconstruction Finance Corp. ends its operations today after a two year decline though its corporate life ends officially at midnight Sunday.
An Agriculture Department survey shows farmers now use more than twice as much electricity than a decade ago.
Secretary of Defense Wilson said a substantial portion of the 25 000 to 30 000 U S Army and Marine troops in Japan will be home by Christmas with others redeployed. An escaped convict Audrey Stevens, 25, of Barberton, admitted breaking into the Burlingham home and terrorizing three women. He and partner Daniel Laeman, 20, fled to Pensacola and then Kansas City where Stevens was captured. The Story auto taken by the pair was found there.

Youngstown judge prohibited William Freeman from living with the mother of his two month old Siamese twin boys. He must pay 125 dollars per month support for his wife and seven children in Pennsylvania. The judge warned Freeman of possible jail for adultery and noted Freeman never married Flora Stockdale nor divorced Georgia Freeman of Kittanning, Pa.
