Miss Rita Sheeran daughter of Mr and Mrs W E Sheeran of Glouster has left for Pittsburgh to study at the Kisn School of Oratory for a six weeks term. She recently completed a three year course at St Aloysius Academy at New Lexington.
The Rev Bay of Zanesville will conduct services at Calvary Baptist Church in Glouster on Sunday. The schedule lists Sunday school at 9:30 a.m. and preaching at 10:30 a.m. followed by evening services at 7:30 p.m.
Glouster on June 28 reports the Shell family annual reunion at East Branch Church next Sunday with an all day program and noon basket dinner. Inviting all family members and friends, the notice says. Draining of the Miami Erie Canal near Toledo will start within 60 days under a state plan. Authorized in 1927, the project faced court challenges from Maumee Valley Electric Co over a water power lease, but the canal bed will become the foundation for a boulevard system.
More than 128 4-H club officers and leaders from Athens County gathered at Athens Junior High School for expert-led sessions on business meeting conduct. County agents and leaders from surrounding counties led groups on secretary duties, recreation program ideas, and demonstration team value. The event concluded with a Crystal Pool swim at 2:50 PM.
Word reached Mr and Mrs J P Reeves of McKinley Avenue that Mrs Blanche Carr died suddenly in Erie Pennsylvania last night. Her body will be brought to Athens for burial with funeral plans not yet finalized. She was born in Metes County and spent her early life in Athens. She was 44 years old.
