Flamecoming Is Success At Strouds Run Homecoming
A large crowd attended the Strouds Run homecoming at the church with a noon basket dinner followed by a program. Mrs Wealthy Tate leaves Tuesday night for Norfolk Virginia to spend two weeks with her son Robert in the U S Navy there. Mr and Mrs Dean White and daughter Tamra vacationed a week at Myrtle Beach South Carolina and have returned. Circle Postpones Picnic and Plans July Gathering
Ten members and ten guests met at Mrs. Kate Wood's home for Chase Circle of Ruth. Bad weather postponed the Wood Lake picnic. a July 5 event at Hattie and Alice Reeves house is set with members bringing their own table service and devotions led by Minta Chase. Helen Chase leads the program and cancer dressing will be made.

Area Women Train To Aid In Hospitals
In Athens area 53 women and high school girls train as candy stripers and nurses aids to support overworked nurses. The program, run with Mrs. Ledford and Laurene Kirchner, lasts 90 hours over three weeks plus 12 to 16 hours of classes and places students in duties from feeding patients to escorting and errand running. The effort, tied to the Area Redevelopment Administration, introduces hospital careers and aims to improve patient care.
